Competition Update .. Williamston SC 05/20/17
What a great weekend. Friday was very restful with no activities. Time to fellowship with other cookers and take time to trim our Butts and get them ready to cook. Very restful time! 22 teams from around the state got together to support this event and I am sure it was successful in raising money to help the less fortunate. Thanks to Royal Oak Charcoal, Pit Barrel Cookers, and Carolina Cookwood for supporting what we do! Cook’s Church was great with 23-24 folks coming out at 6:45am for a short devotion and prayer time. I see God at work in some of these lives every week! Congratulations to the High on the Hog cook team for their 1st place win on pork butts. The judges said it was a hard fought contest with a few of the top teams in the state there cooking for the win! Bucky’s was one of those teams, but the judges just didn’t like our entry. We finished at 13th in pork. BUT .. then came ribs! Bucky’s finished at 1st place. Pictured is our trophy. It wasn’t much, just an envelope with “1st Ribs” written on the front. Then we opened it up and it became beautiful!I really like trophies like this! Well the summer is starting and there are very few contest now. Our next outing is Spartanburg in June!
